Siege Tower (right) A medieval combat engineer unit. The tower is constructed out in the field as it is impossible to move the tower with a marching army over varying terrains. The tower is employed in the assault of enemy castles and passes. The presence of archers laying down cover fire from these towers by shooting at the enemy defenders on top of the walls will give the enemy something to worry about instead of concentrating their efforts at repelling the assaulting infantry climbing up the walls. Moreover arrows are shot at a much better accuracy and range than those shot from the ground up due to gravity and visibility. The tower also served as a sort of mobile field reconnaissance tower in the assault as archers stationed on top can monitor enemy movements over a much greater range.
